Bicycle Seats as a Cause of Bladder Problems

Though most fitness and medical research stops short of attributing bladder problems to bike riding, some cycle seats cause irritations in some riders that lead to discomfort in the region of the bladder -- especially for those already suffering from complications in the bladder region. Using special bike seats or switching to a different type of bicycle are options for those experiencing this type of issue. Read the entire article...

Bike Riding for Kids- Pain Free

Riding a bike is a childhood feat that once learned will never be forgotten. When a child learns to ride, he or she is on the road to a lifetime of fun and adventure. The most important thing to remember when teaching a child to ride is to keep it fun. If learning isn't fun, kids won't want to do it.

A child’s readiness to learn to ride a bike depends largely on their physical development as well as their comfort level.  For most children, a tricycle is the first step in learning to ride but a tricycle only teaches steering and pedaling. It doesn’t teach balance and is best suited for indoors or a level, closed courtyard or driveway. On the smallest incline, when a tricycle gets going it can't stop without brakes and it can't turn without flipping. This kind of scary learning postpones the time when the child will ride a real bike. Read more...

Riding Rough: New Evidence Continues to Link Biking to Impotence

FACT: In a recent study published in the journal Radiology, 94% of males who engaged in “extensive off-road biking” showed scrotal abnormalities – compared to 16% of non-bikers.

In 1997, Boston University impotence researcher Irwin Goldstein terrified macho cyclists everywhere with his claim that road biking had caused at least 100,000 cases of permanent impotence in American men. Though at the time many urologists suggested that scientific studies in support of Goldstein’s charge were, well, soft, new research indicates that cyclists’ overall sexual prognosis may be more disturbing than previously thought. Serious Riders, Your Bicycle Seat May Affect Your Love Life

A raft of new studies suggest that cyclists, particularly men, should be careful which bicycle seats they choose. The studies add to earlier evidence that traditional bicycle saddles, the kind with a narrow rear and pointy nose, play a role in sexual impotence.

Some saddle designs are more damaging than others, scientists say. But even so-called ergonomic bike seats, to protect the sex organs, can be harmful, the research finds. The dozen or so studies, from peer-reviewed journals, are summarized in three articles in September's Journal of Sexual Medicine. Read More...

Hobson EasySeat

Peace of Mind

All of our cycling saddles are backed by proven medical research.

Sit bones are for sitting on. Our ergonomic bike seats relieve pressure from the perineum by distributing weight to the proper body parts. The result is a pain free cycling experience with no harmful pressure and maximum comfort.

Straddling a conventional bicycle seat may cause erectile dysfunction in men and vaginal nerve damage in women. Our recommended saddles are designed for protecting and supporting the male and female anatomy.

For maximum comfort, optimal health and a better ride, order one of our recommended saddles today!

Hobson EasySeat
Andreas Jungwirth, M.D. - Urologist, Salzburg, Austria
"My bike riding patients have been testing the Hobson Seats and the results are most satisfactory. The pressure is completely off the perineal area. So ingenious to take away the center horn."

Charles R. Wright - Victoria Virginia
"In 1979, I purchased an exercise bike (Sears). In 1981, I purchased your Hobson Easyseat. At the time I was 49yrs old.

I am now 76 years ( young ). I still do my exercise daily. I do twenty miles each day at a speed of 18-20 miles an hour. I have arthritis in both knees and still keep going.

I want to thank you for the seat. This could not have done without the Hobson EasySeat."

Jeffrey J. Brown
"I have recently replaced all four of my existing bike seats with your Hobson Seats, as I absolutely love it. I have tried about 20 "male relief" seats over the past 6 or 7 years and your new model is an order of magnitude above the rest. There is no seat currently on the market that offers the same comfort/protection as your Bicycle Seat. Well done."

Capt. Jim Wilcox
"I ride about 125-150 miles a week. Like you said it took about 4 rides to break in & get used to my Hobson Easyseat. Let me tell you.....The Easyseat is the best thing since sliced bread......looking forward to any upgrades. Please keep me posted......excellent work men.......thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

Tony - Alberta, Canada
"Mike, the Hobson EasySeat arrived fast. I installed it on our Monark stationary bike, and my wife immediately tried it out. She loves the seat! No more tail bone pain. Thanks Mike."

Norbert Reicher M.D. - Syracuse, NY
"Thank you for bringing the Hobson Easyseat into being. It has restored me to bike riding. Two years ago, I gave up the bike after finding six different conventional seats too painful, for a seventy yr. old. Then, I purchased an Easyseat and found instant comfort. A great product deserves a good word."

Art Ulene M.D. - Los Angeles, Ca TV personality
"I continue to use my EasySeat. It has enabled me to resume my twice-weekly rides in the hills, and I will be carrying it with me to Western New York in about three weeks for a three-day bike trip that my wife and I are planning. Without your uniquely designed saddle, I know that these rides would be impossible because of the pain I was encountering."
